The Golden Cross is the oldest pub in Coventry (One of the oldest in The Midlands). Built circa 1583, during the reign of Queen Elizabeth 1st and established as a public house circa 1661, during the reign of Charles II (The year of his coronation). The Golden Cross boasts traditional Tudor features which include: jettied upper floors with exposed beams, the pub also features a Dragon Beam which makes it possible for the jettied floors to go around the corners. These historic features alone makes it worthwhile visiting The Golden Cross.

We don’t do SKY we don’t do BT Sport, but what we do is, convivial conversation, serve real ales from far and wide, a great selection of Gins from around the world, fabulous lagers, great ciders, a comprehensive wine list, wide choice of spirits, including local Gins, a selection of international bottled beers, soft drinks and of course teas and coffees. Oh yes, don’t forget our Gins including Gin of the month!

Our Food is all Traditional Homemade British Cuisine, some with a subtle twist. Our kitchen is also completely gluten free. We offer a full menu all day and a snack menu in the week. Food is served 12pm-9pm Monday to Saturday and 12pm-5pm on a Sunday, and the snack menu is available Monday to Friday 12pm-3pm.

Here at the Golden Cross, we have made it our mission to cater for people with dietary requirements. We are gradually making more things dairy free and cutting out the major 14 allergens when possible. As we make all of our dishes on site, if anyone has any specific requirements we will do our best to cater for them.

We have live music every Saturday upstairs from around 9pm, so those who prefer a quiet drink in Coventry’s oldest pub can enjoy a relaxing evening in comfort on the ground floor. We also have an open mic night every Tuesday between 8pm and 11pm. Every first Friday of the month we have an alternative DJ playing rock, punk, metal, ska and more!
